AFRICAN OCEAN DAY

As AFRICAN OCEAN Campaign has completed its one year in September, 2025. To mark the significance and importance of this campaign, AFRICAN OCEAN DAY is announced on 26th September, 2025. Number of events were planned in different East African Countries for awareness in masses. A large number of supporters actively participated in these events despite the current Covid-19 situation in Africa.

Mogadishu - Somalia

African Ocean Day is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in Somalian Capital Mogadishu. An Awareness Walk was organized at LIIDO BEACH. Youth and students energetically participated. Our volunteers in Somalia also distributed handouts and posters in different parts of Mogadishu to highlight the special occasion of AFRICAN OCEAN DAY.

Nairobi – Kenya

In the buzzing Capital of Kenya on Sunday, 26th September- 2020 , A large number Students and citizens held a demonstration for renaming Western Indian Ocean to AFRICAN OCEAN at different places of City Center. The supporters celebrated 26th September as “AFRICAN OCEAN DAY”.

Mombasa – Kenya

The Mombasa is an important beach city of Eastern Africa at Western Indian Ocean.
We have a great support for African Ocean from this City. With our efforts and support of local volunteers we managed to bring the issue of renaming WIO to African Ocean in local Media. AL – SHIFFA Channel broadcasted a report on AFRICAN OCEAN and also interviewed the locals. The Supporters of African Ocean did a tremendous job and distributed thousands of posters and handout to citizens. Apart from this a sticker campaign was also carried out for mass awareness.
